Hand knotted old yak bone bead necklace with stacks of vintage ostrich shells and wonderful old conus shell pendant. Conus shells like these were used as currency in Papua New Guinea. The oldest form of adornment. Shells are important symbols of fertility, birth, death, and resurrection. The yak is highly revered in many cultures because of the life sustaining resources it provides. It is considered a sacred animal and not to be harmed. Every part of the yak is used throughout its life and death out of respect.
