Egyptian tribal Bedouin Zar talisman with five bells on a handmade Ethiopian white metal bead necklace with a sterling silver hinged security clasp. The Arabic word “Zar” means “visitation”. The Zar amulet typically was worn by women in a ritual that is designed to encourage friendly spirits to visit and at the same time to protect the wearer from evil spirits. The white metal beads were handmade in Ethiopia in a unique design.
