Hand knotted burnt Yak bone bead necklace with hand carved Soochow tribal scroll jade amulet. Ancient Chinese Soochow arts and crafts (now called Suzhou) can be traced back to the Stone Age. The handmade burnt bone beads were used in Nepal and Tibet also as talismans against evil. They were often used in religious rites. Buddhism reveres the use of bone as a sign of impermanence and reverence for the animal who gave so much to the tribe.
