Highly valued hirz talisman (also spelled “herz” ) were designed with silver, a sacred metal believed to have purifying and protective properties, and worn by vulnerable populations such as children, women and travelers. Berber artisans showed exceptional craftmanship using traditional methods. The intricate patterns etched on the face is an elegant symbol of cultural identity.
