Hand knotted hand-carved soapstone scarab necklace. Each scarab is one of a kind and carved by hand in Egypt out of soapstone. The base of each scarab is inscribed with unique hieroglyphic designs. Ancient Egyptians believed that the scarab was the earthly manifestation of the god Khepri, who pushed the sun across the sky each day, only to disappear and magically re-appear the next morning. From this, the scarab developed into a powerful amulet for self-creation, transformation and rebirth, not only in ancient Egypt, but also across many other ancient cultures.
